Meadowlark Elementary School has a long tradition of raising money to help Meadowlark families in need of assistance for the holidays.
This year’s project was “The Giving Tree.”    A letter and a copy of a tree to color were sent to all students,  asking  that students color a tree and donate at least $1, though any amount would be accepted.
The trees were hung in the foyer of the school for all to see.  The Giving Tree campaign ran for two weeks. Students raised an amazing $1,500.
All of the money raised enabled Meadowlark to help eight families in the school with a combined total of 30 children.
Fourth grade students went to Walmart with the budget and wish lists in hand. They bought a Christmas present for each of the 30 children, plus groceries for the families to assist the parents with meals during the winter break.
PTO’s Caring and Sharing Campaign
Every year, the Meadowlark Parent Teacher Organization  sponsors a Caring & Sharing campaign at the school where they collect food donations for the Andover Food Bank.  This year, students donated 920 food items.
 Prairie Creek
Ornaments add
another $1,400
Fourth grade students designed and sold plexiglass personalized etched Christmas ornaments to raise money for Prairie Creek Elementary School families in need.
This year they raised $1,400.  The fourth graders also went on a field trip to Walmart and purchased food and gifts for these families.
The Mitten Tree
For several years, Robert M. Martin Elementary School has had a "mitten tree" in the front hall of the school.
Students decorate the tree with mittens, gloves, caps, and scarves. This year 186 items of warm clothing were collected and donated to "Andover Caring & Sharing," which will distribute the warm clothing items to children who are in need in the Andover community.

Martin Elementary School  third through fifth graders made ornaments, paper chains, snowflakes, and paper gingerbread men to decorate their "adopted Grandma's & Grandpa's" rooms at Lakeside Senior Center.  The students also made Christmas cards for their "adopted friends" to help make their Christmas season brighter.
Andover High
School Art Club
The Andover High School Art Club sponsored a 14 year old girl through the Christmas Crusade for Kids.  Students brought a straight iron, hair product, gloves and much more for their sponsored student.
ACHS Friends
