Not this Sunday, but next Sunday (May 23) the congregation from First Church of the Nazarene will be worshiping two blocks west of its present site at 530 School.
Pastor John Bassett announced earlier this week the church will be  relocating to the southeast corner of Sixth & Walnut (U.S. 77).
The move will be going to the Augusta City Council Monday night with a planning commission recommendation for a change of district classification to permit the two-block relocation to 117 E. Sixth.
Of course, Pastor Bassett invites all to join him the congregation at the new location in the former Hillside Funeral Home-Augusta.
Bible Study for all ages will begin 9 a.m. May 23, and the worship and praise service will begin at 10 a.m.
A tailgate celebration including food and fellowship will follow the morning worship in the parking area.
The new site will way more handicap accessible than the three-story building used the the Nazarene congregation.
The district classification item appears under New Business on the agenda for Monday night’s meeting of the Augusta City Council.
That session in the upstairs councilroom of City Hall will begin t 7 p.m. Regular meetings of the council are televises on cable Channel 7 in this community.
Other items of New Business call for:
• Consideration of bids for the Frontier Refinery raw water line project.
• A resolution setting  July 6 public hearing on a property at 922 Money and the International Property Maintenance Code.
• Acquisition of property and flowage easements at 1701 Sunset Drive.
• Setting a July 19 public hearing for annexation of two properties abutting the city limits.
• Review of a Convention Tourism Bureau grant proposal from Downtown Augusta Inc. (DAI).
• Look at a resolution amending the fee schedule as part of the city’s code of ordinances.
• Begin discussion on renewal of the city’s one-cent sales tax.
Under Old Business Monday night, the council will be prepared to talk about membership of the Downtown Design Committee.
The second item pertains to more talk about council chairs and a power point system for the councilroom.
