In celebration of National Fishing Week and Kansas’ Free Fishing Days, the Augusta Chamber of Commerce and the Augusta Wal-Mart are hosting an exciting, fun-filled day of fishing for kids and their families.
Youngsters are invited to come out to Augusta City Lake at PlayPark Pointe with their fishing poles, tackle boxes and bait and take part in the Augusta Kids Fishing Derby presented by Augusta Wal-Mart from 8:30 a.m. - Noon on Saturday, June 7,
Every child fishing at the derby will receive a free goodie bag full of fun stuff provided by the event’s local sponsors. In addition to free fishing, the day will also feature hotdogs, chips and drinks, prize drawings and fun contests.
Boys and girls encouraged to pre-register at the Wal-Mart store located at 1618 N. Ohio, the Augusta Chamber of Commerce at 112 E. 6th Avenue.
Registration will also be possible from 8:30 to 9 a.m. on derby day. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
The Augusta Chamber of Commerce and Wal-Mart share a strong commitment to the community’s youth and are proud to host a memorable day of fishing for the kids and their families. “Events like this fishing derby can be a great bonding experience for kids and their families,” said Jeremiah Zweifel, derby spokesperson. “The beauty of fishing is that it is an activity that a family can enjoy together for a lifetime,” added Zweifel.
