Augusta High’s Scholars Bowl team reached the championship rounds of Monday’s Scholars Bowl Regional at Douglass along with two other “A-Schools” - Andover and Andover Central.
After the final rounds, Andover Central emerged as No. 1, Andover was No. 2, and Cheney finished at No. 3. The top three teams move on to state competition.
Augusta entered the finals with a 4-2 mark and finished fifth in the regional field of 15 teams.
En route to the championship rounds, Augusta out-pointed Wellington, Haven, Mulvane, and shut out El Dorado 80-0. The squad lost to Andover and a tiebreaker match to Independence.
Scholars Bowl is an academic game of 16 Questions testing general knowledge about language arts, science and health, social science, mathematics, fine arts, and current events. Ten points are awarded for correct answers.
