The spring stage production of Augusta High students will be “Diary of Anne Frank.” This play will be presented at 7:30 p.m. April 9-10 in the school’s remodeled auditorium.
The play was written by Francis Goodrich and Albert Hockett and produced on Broadway in 1955. It won a Pulitzer Prize.
It wa also made into a successful movie in 1958. Shelley Winter won the first of two Best Supporting Actress Academy Awards for her portrayal of Mrs. VanDaan.
The story, told through the diary of Anne Frank, discovered in the attic after World War II, is about two families, the Franks and the Van Daans living and hiding in a small attic during the Nazi occupation of Amsterdam, Holland.
That attic is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Holland.
