Benton, Life Church get wins in Augusta Church softball League play

Stan McHone hit a two-RBI single, and David Gray and Brian McHone each hit a two-RBI triple in the first inning to give Life Church (4-5) an early 6-3 lead. Life Church, nicknamed the Fighting Iguanas, went on to beat Hope Community (2-7) by a score of 15-10 Monday in Augusta Church Softball League play.

Seth Lindberg hit a inside-the-park home run in the fith to try and spark a comeback for Hope Community.

In the first game Monday, Benton Methodist (9-1) defeated St. James Red (4-7) by a score of 11-6 to keep pace with St. James Blue atop the standings.

Benton scored the first run after an error that could have ended the second inning. Bryce Hendrix hit a two-RBI single as Benton scored six runs.
