Jacob Furr and Tyrone Richmond each scored seven points in the first quarter as Augusta's boys basketball team claimed a 23-6 lead. The Orioles went on to win 56-44 in the first round of the 4A sub-State basketball tournament Tuesday night.
Augusta will play against Rose Hill in Round 2. The Rockets ended El Dorado's season with a 53-39 win against the Wildcats in Rose Hill. The Orioles swept the two-game series with the Rockets.
Brittney Bratcher scored 15 points for Douglass' girls basketball team, which defeated Chaparral 55-39 in the Bulldogs' home finale of the 3A sub-State tournament hosted by Conway Springs, where the Bulldogs will play their Round 2 game.
