Bowling league: Business Men's standings through Week 2

Standings

1. Nesler Masonry 11-1

Cross Country

Douglass’ Sarah Wright came in first place in the girls freshman race at the Swather Special in Hesston Thursday. She won in 15 minutes, 15.84 seconds.

The boys team finished 14th with 93 team points. Berean Academy (25) won the boys’ team title.

Tennis

Andover's girls tennis team placed third at the Wichita Collegiate tennis tournament. Collegiate (40) took first, Hutchinson (22) took second, and Andover (19) took third. Wichita Trinity took fourth (12). Goddard and Valley Center tied for fifth (10).

No. 1 singles: Mel Mihelic lost in the finals 6-8 and took second.

No. 1 doubles: Kristin Morgan and Erin Clopine took second, losing in the final 5-8 to Wichita Collegiate.

No. 2 doubles: MacKenzie Lair and Brianna Sanders took seventh.

Football

 

Butler’s 1999 NJCAA championship football team will be inducted into 

the Grizzly Athletic Hall of Fame at halftime of Saturday’s 7p.m. game 

against Garden City at Cessna Stadium.

 

That team went 11-1, becoming back-to-back champions following the 

national title won in 1998. 

 

Butler traveled to No. 1 Dixie College in St. George, Utah to play 

in the national championship game. Rudi Johnson’s performance was the 

stuff of legend, as he scored all seven touchdowns and ran for 393 

yards as Butler defeated Dixie 49-35.
