Football

Two of Augusta’ little league football team’s won their first game Saturday, Sept. 12.

The fifth graders shut out Wellington 26-0 in the home opener. The sixth-grade team escaped Wellington (Team 1) with a one-point, 7-6 victory.

Wellington beat the third graders (Team 1) 13-0. Clearwater beat the third graders (Team 2) 25-6. Wellington topped the fourth-grade team 14-7.

- The eighth grade team plays against Rose Hill today at 6:30 p.m. The Blue Jays defeated Wellington 44-24 last week in their road opener. Tristan Finch, Seth Base, Sean DeMayo and Anthony Castillo all scored touchdowns for the Blue Jays. Finch opened up the offense by completing passes to four different receivers.  Nolan Larkin, Base, Castillo and Sean Brandenburg all had pass receptions.

Volleyball
 
Augusta’s middle school volleyball teams play against Rose Hill today starting at 5 p.m.
The seventh graders, which have two squads, have won both of their  matches the first two weeks this season. Squad A beat Andover in a third-game tiebreaker 25-21, 15-25, 18-16. They then blew by Wellington 25-6, 25-21.
 
Squad B also beat Andover in a third-game tiebreaker, winning 17-25, 25-23, 16-14. They also had no trouble with Wellington, winning 25-5, 25-9.
 
Squad A for the eighth graders lost to Andover in three games 15-25, 25-22, 12-15, but rebounded with a 24-26, 25-23, 15-6 win against Wellington.
 
Finally, Squad B for the eighth graders has yet to drop a game, sweeping Andover 25-23, 25-20 and Wellington 25-22, 25-19.
 
Baseball
 
There is an Augusta Little League Baseball meeting at 6:30 p.m. September 24th at the Augusta library. 
Any residents who are interested in being a board member need to attend to receive an application.
