The Royals scored three of their own in the bottom of the fifth to record the win in the championship game.
Scoring for the Royals were Trent Wilbank with a solo roundtripper in the first, Ethan Elliott, Andrew Smith (twice), Braden Rowe, and Jacob Dunsworth.
Scoring for the young Orioles were J.C. Roberts, Randall Crutcher (knocking ball to the left field fence) Sam Randall and Hayden Janzen.
Squirt Royals win 2
The older Royals of the Augusta Youth Baseball Squirt Division had to notch two wins Thursday night to work their way back into championship contention.
The Orioles were sent to the lower bracket earlier in the week by the Red Sox. The Stricklers Shoe Store Rockies sent the Sox to another meeting with the Royals.
This time the Braungardt Appraisal Royals dumped the Red Sox 17-8 to set up a contest with the undefeated the Rockies.
The Royals changed that with a 14-2 thrashing of the Rockies (their first loss in the double elimination bracket).
Both teams meet again at 6:30 tonight.
