Salon wars, Little League cancellation controversy, no Fourth of July fireworks -- things haven’t been this exciting in Augusta since Jim Markos was school superintendent!!
--------------------------
As a family, we’d be glad to donate $20 toward fireworks on the Fourth of July at the Augusta Lake.  I bet others would, too.
--------------------------
I wish that I was a baseball league board member and my son would be on an undefeated team with only 9-10 players when everyone else has 13 and 14 players.
--------------------------
We don’t have to have a 30 minute fireworks display.  What about 20 or even 15 minutes?
--------------------------
Here’s a little known fact -- baseball league board members picked all the teams, there were no drafts like in years past.  Is it any wonder we have undefeated teams with nine players when other teams have 13 to 14 players?  Seems strange.  Maybe we need a Rec. League and a commission.
--------------------------
We do have people in Augusta who are concerned for other people.  Saturday after I had checked out at Wal-Mart, a lady approached me and asked if I had dropped $11 in the check out lane.  I said that I didn’t think so and she said that she was sure that I had and she gave me the $11.  When I got back to the car and check my money supply, I had indeed lost the $11.  It was a kindness on the lady’s part.  She could have kept the money.  It made my day to have someone be so honest.  I hope it made her day to know that she had helped an older person.
--------------------------
Why did Ignite Augusta wait this late to state their intentions NOT to sponsor the Fourth of July fireworks at the lake?  Had the public been aware of this, perhaps a community effort could have been ignited.  Bad timing on your part, Ignite Augusta.  No problem if the funds weren’t there, but the public should have known earlier.
--------------------------
Are Ignite Augusta funds being used to sponsor the Santa Fe Lake fireworks display on July 3?
--------------------------
It should be against the law for bike riders and scooter people to talk on cell phones while they are traveling our streets.
--------------------------
People need to watch out in the construction on Kellogg near Andover Rd.  It goes to one lane so at the stoplight traffic gets backed up all the way to the Holiday Inn. People aren't used to it and almost get in pile ups all the time. We need some signs there!
--------------------------
At $5 a car, where does the money go from the Christmas drive-through at Garvin Park?  It’s staffed by volunteers and the displays are sponsored by banks, companies, etc.  Could that money be used for fireworks?
--------------------------
Message to our one and only grocery store:  the gas pumps are nice, the remodel will probably be nice when finished, but if you really want to serve us, try having more check out lanes open!!!
