Like it or not,  Valentine’s Day is here again.
Sometimes the sense of isolation becomes so strong that many singles  hate Valentine's Day - the day that is actually meant to celebrate love.
If you happen to be single and the day makes you want to bury yourself in a dark pit of despair, then it may be time to embrace the day and celebrate it in your own special  way.
Rather than commiserate about not being in a relationship, celebrate life and the fact that you are a strong, passionate and independent person!
Host a special "Single on Valentine's Day" Party.  Here are a couple of easy theme ideas just to get your started.
I'd Rather be Single Than With My Ex! (Ex-orcising party) - Was your ex less than desirable? Then get together with a bunch of friends who feel the same way, and have an Ex-orcism. Have friends bring old remembrances of their ex-mates such as stuffed animals, clothing, cards/letters, etc. to be "discarded" in the manner of your choice at the party. Play your CD of the best "get on with your life" songs like, "I Will Survive," "What's Love Got to do With it," "It's My Party." You know which ones we mean.
I'd Rather be in Debt Than in Love (shopping party) - Gather your best single friends together and go to the mall. Shop 'til you drop, baby! Make sure that you avoid any stores with Valentines and/ or any Valentine's Day specials, because it could traumatize the group. Buy anything that lets you be self-indulgent. Make it an annual tradition.
It’s important for a single person to remember that thousands of couples are unhappily spending Valentine’s Day together and relationships aren’t always what couples wish they were.
And don’t forget Ann Landers’ valuable advice, -- “It is better to be alone, than wishing you were."
