Maria “Mary” Torres Cruz Wendt, 75, Wichita, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2009.
Funeral service was held this morning at Dunsford-Zeiner Funeral Home-West Chapel, Augusta. Interment followed in Elmwood Cemtery.
Mary was born on March 8, 1934 in Agana, Guam to Pedro Santos and Anna Torres Cruz. She married Frederick E. Wendt on April 6, 1973 in Yigo, Guam.
Survivors include: sons, John (Barbara) Cruz of Mooringsport, La., Albert Cruz and Joe (Dee) Cruz of Wichita; daughters, Marcia Guzman of Santa Rita, Guam and her finace, Fermin Reyes of Yigo, Guam, and Jannet (Robert) McAvoy of Sioux City, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; brothers, Louis (Josephine) Cruz of Dededo, Guam and David Cruz of Restin, Va.; sisters, Anita Flores of Yigo, Guam and Rosita Sourgose of Tamuning, Guam; brother-in-law, Leroy Gray of Augusta.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse, and siblings, Pedro Cruz and Yoaquina “Kina” Suarez.
Memorials have been established with the American Diabetes Association or the Nurses Training Program 40-8 Voiture 58, in care of the funeral home.
