Louie R. Lewis, 85, of Augusta, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2009.
Visitation 6-7 p.m. Sunday and service 10 a.m. Monday, June 29, both at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Graveside service 4 p.m. at Fields Cemetery, Dodge, Okla.
Louie was born in Belle Plaine, Kan. on Dec. 16, 1923; the son of the late William Henry and Mattie Catherine (Johnston) Lewis. He retired as a structural fatigue test mechanic from Beechcraft after 37 years. On Sept. 28, 1945 he married Wilma (Wright) in Bentonville, Ark. and she survives.
He is also survived by: son, Gary Lewis and fiance` Rebecca of Douglass; daughters, Jewel Gillis, Carol McDaniel and husband Dale, Nancy Moody and husband Larry, and Kathy Lewis all of Augusta; brothers, Lon Lewis of Seneca, Mo., and Noah Jacob Lewis of Haysville; sister, Vivian Imogene McLaughlin of Claremore, Okla.; grandchildren, Jewel Annette Gillis, Kirk Gillis, Sara Jean Gillis, Dale Andrew McDaniel, Matthew McDaniel, Pamela Aikman, and Gloria Russell; great- grandchildren, Rachel McDaniel, Paige McDaniel, Elizabeth Aikman, Isabella Aikman, Elizabeth R. Gillis, Jacob Gillis, Jim Mills, Jennifer Mills, and Elizabeth Rachelle Russell; a great-great grandson, Avery Andrew Winchell.
He was preceded in death by: daughter, Debbie Jean Lewis; brothers, Grover and L. D. Lewis; a sister, Sylvia Walls.
