The Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees recently welcomed two new members from Augusta - attoreney Cami Baker and accountant Mike Clifton.
Baker, attorney with Cami Baker and Associates, PA, has been practicing law in the Butler County area for more than 15 years, having moved back to the area after graduating from the University of Tulsa.
Since moving back, she witnessed the local hospital in Augusta go through financial struggles and finally close.
She realized the concern over healthcare growing in her community, and decided she wanted to learn more about the issues and be proactive in creating solutions. When the position on the Susan B. Allen Board was presented to her, she willingly accepted the offer.
“I have a great interest in Augusta’s healthcare needs, and the needs around the area,” said Baker. “By being a part of the SBAMH Board, I hope to learn more about SBAMH and how SBAMH can benefit the communities it serves, and vice versa.”
Baker is a director of the Augusta Optimist Club, a member of the Augusta Chamber of Commerce, Augusta Downtown, Inc., and a charter member and Board member of Ignite Augusta.
She has also served on the Board and is a supporter of Butler County Big Brothers and Sisters.
Clifton, CPA, has offices in Augusta and El Dorado.
Following graduation from Wichita State University with his BBA in accounting, he worked for Deloitte Haskins & Sells in Kansas City, and was the general manager of Private Energy Company, then he formed his own CPA firm.
“Throughout my career, I’ve used disciplined judgment, perception and objectivity to help my clients in both personal and business activities, and I feel those are strengths I bring to the SBAMH Board,” says Clifton.
“I think my perceptions and life experiences here in Augusta will help broaden the viewpoints of the board and that will be a positive.”
Clifton is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Kansas Society of
Certified Public Accountants; Immediate Past President of the Butler Community College Foundation; Secretary/ Treasurer of Augusta Progress, Inc; Secretary/Treasurer of IDEA, Inc. (Independent Development of Education in Augusta, Inc.); member of the Augusta Chamber of Commerce and of the St. James Catholic Church Finance Committee.
