A resignation from Augusta High School Principal Paul Larkin was accepted Monday night by the Augusta Unified School District 402 Board of Education.

A motion was made, seconded, and approved, 7-0. The resignation will be effective at the end of the current school year.
Board Vice President Carey Lee then moved to not renew the contract of Lincoln Elementary Principal Pam Karslake.
“After extensive consideration of the matter, we will not renew the contract,” said Lee.
In a 6-1 vote, the Board approved the resolution of intent of non-renewal of the contract.  Board member Larry Winter cast the single “no” vote.
Karslake, who has been with the local district for 13 years, can file a request to meet with the Board in an executive session and have the opportunity to respond and discuss the action.
According to Vice President  Lee, no other action was taken  on administrator contracts until more is learned about next  year’s budget.
Prior to these actions, and in  order to protect the privacy of confidential personnel matters, the Augusta School Board invited patrons individually to address the Board in an executive session at Monday’s regular monthly meeting.  A large number of patrons were in attendance so each individual was allotted a maximum of three minutes to address the Board.
No action was taken and no comments were made by the Board immediately following the 30-minute executive session.
Following the Board’s vote on Larkin and Karslake, the majority of the patrons in attendance walked out of the meeting without comment.
Then it was business as usual as Board members approved the consent agenda and approved two new business items.  Unanimous approval was given to continue using the services of Busby, Ford & Reimer, LLC for performing annual audits, and a request by the Augusta First Baptist Church to use facilities for their FROG Club meetings was also approved, 7-0.
In unfinished business the three year KSDE Technology Plan for the district was also approved 7-0.
Following a district construction update by Deputy Superintendent John Black and an update on School finance, the Board went into another executive session.
