Ken Stultz, owner-operator of Aerospace Products Inc. at the Augusta Municipal Airport, spoke to the City Council Monday night about his desire to stay at the airport.
At an earlier Council meeting, it was decided not to renew the Aerospace lease at the airport, west of this community.
Stultz said it is a burden and expense to move away.
“My business is an advocate of aviation, aeronautical services and the Augusta Airport. I would like to have the opportunity to stay.”
He said there were “issues at the airport” before he located there and suggested there will be other issues from time to time.
“It’s a great airport!” said Stultz.
There was no action taken by the governing body following Stultz remarks.
Before Stultz spoke under the Old Business section of the Council agenda David Dewhirst of Wichita addressed the Council as a visitor.
“There’s no sense in crucifying  Mr. Stultz.”
He said a group called Augusta Airport Users and Tenants has been formed in “a spirit of cooperation” to suggest professional guidance which could lead to an even healthier airport.
Dewhirst hopes users/tenants members to meet over the next few months to give attention to various phases of airport operations - budgeting, a modern marketing plan, policies, and employee conduct.
