The Augusta Evening Lions Club will be sponsoring a special basketball game that promises “fun” as well as ”fundraising" Monday night .
The Harlem Ambassadors will square off in Hutter Gymnasium on the campus o Augusta High School to take on the Augusta Double Dribbles - a group of locals who shined on the court in their younger days.
The tipoff will be at 7:15 p.m. Monday, Jan.18.
The game promises spectators some high-flying slam dunks, dazzling ball-handling tricks and hilarious comedy from the Ambassadors.
“It’s not your grandfather’s basketball show,” according to promoters.
Advance tickets can be purchased at Cooper Drug, Strickler’s Shoes, White Eagle Credit Union, and the Dunsford-Zeiner Funeral Home.
Proceeds will help support many worthwhile projects for the community such as Bill Reed Memorial Park, Augusta Caring Center, sponsorships for the Lions State Band as well as Girls/Boys State, scholarships to Butler Community College, Lions Mobile Health Screening Unit, and the Lions Kansas Sight Foundation.
The Ambassadors is a group college-educated men and women who have special athletic skills.
Most of the Dribbles have experience on the Hutter Court.
Advance ticket costs $7 for students, $9 for adults
At-the-Door ticket costs $9 for sudents, $11 for dults.
