A royal couple will be chosen from eight nominees as Augusta High’s Winter Homecoming King and Queen Tuesday night.
Coronation is expected to occur at 5:30 p.m. before the Oriole girls Varsity game.in Hutter Gym of AHS. The homecoming opponent will be Rose Hill.
The eight contenders ar Chelsea Base, Shelby Brasfield, Natalie Rives, Karli Winter, Jacob Furr, Nick Nordman, Tyler Powers, and Brandon Swa.
Monday’s homecoming theme will be Comfy/PJ Day, Tuesday will be Oriole Spirit Day, Wednesday will be Senior Citizens Day, and Thursday will be Rock Star Day.
There will be a winter homecoming pep assembly a 2:40 p.m. Tuesday.
The Winter Homecoming Fiesta dance will be Thursday night from 8 to 11 p.m.
There will be no classes Friday as this is a Grade Pre/Staff Development Day.
Queen candidate hopefuls:
Base has a 3.9 Grade Point Average and is president of the Senior Class. She’s been a cheerleader for four years She likes math and thinks English may be her worst subject. Favorite Food: Fettuccine Alfredo.
She’s the daughter of Jim and Carol Base.
Brasfield has a 3.49 GPA. She is an Oriole basketball player who has also been involved in volleyball, and track, Student Council, and Choir. She feels government is her worst subject and math her best. Favorite Food: Three Cheese Chicken Penie.
She’s the daughter of Jennifer Christner nd Rick Engstrand.
Rives carries a 2.86 GPA. She too is an Oriole basketball player. and has been involved in volleyball,FCA, SADD, and SuCo. Best subject-English, Worst - science. Favorite Food: Quesadillias.
She’s the daughter of Julie and Tom Rives.
Winter has a 3.06 GPA. She has been involved in soccer, volleyball, cross country and golf as well as SADD, Choir, and Prom Committee. Best subject-history, Worst -math. Favorite Food: Chicken strips with BBQ sauce.
She’s the daughter of Karl and Theresa Winter.
King candidate hopefuls:
Nordman has a 2.84 GPA. He’s been active in bowling, football,FCA, and Youth Entrepreneurs of Kansas. Best Subject - history, Worst - math. Favorite Food: Barbecue.
He’s the son of Troy and Nancy Nordman.
Furr has a 2.82 GPA, He is an Oriole basketball player who has also been active in soccer, cross country, football, and baseball. Worst Subject-English, Best - math. Favorite Food: McDonald’s breakfast.
