Most Kansas audiences know a little bit about Oz.

But Wicked brings an incredible telling of the story of what was happening in Oz before Dorothy ever walked the Yellow Brick Road.

The Broadway musical that is being staged at the Century II Concert Hall through Nov. 8 is an incredibly entertaining trip back to the origination of some of the most famous characters in American cinema.

The entire cast was incredible in both performance and voice, but none shown as brightly as Marcie Dodd, who played Elphaba (the Wicked Witch of the West).

He vocal, dramatic and comedic range moved viewers through an exceptional story.

Helene Yorke, who plays Glinda the Good, was also impressive displaying the overriding lightness of her role but still brought depth to her character with her understanding of the emotional price being paid by Elphaba.

The production leaves no yellow brick unturned in answering any question that may exist about the emergence of motley characters that later have their culmination in the Wizard of Oz.

Tickets are still available for several of the shows. They cost $57-$125, and are available through WichitaTix at 316-219-4849 or www.wichitatix.com.

Opportunities to see performances of this quality in Wichita don’t come along every year. This is an amazing opportunity to have a true Broadway experience in the heart of Kansas.
