El Dorado High School teacher Ashley Evenson has been accused of unlawful sexual relations during her time teaching in the Bluestem School District.
Investigators with the El Dorado Police Department and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation conducted interviews with former students, teachers and school staff in El Dorado and Great Bend in completing the investigation.
El Dorado detectives had been informed by Bluestem school officials of allegations against a local teacher stemming from interviews of former students in that district. In addition, the Kansas Bureau of Investigation conducted an interview with a student at the request of the El Dorado Police Department.
Investigators interviewed former students of the educator who implicated the 24-year-old El Dorado woman. Subsequent interviews and statements from other witnesses and the suspect led investigators to prepare an arrest affidavit alleging unlawful sexual relations.
The incidents occurred when Evenson was employed at Bluestem High School, approximately one year ago. She began teaching at EHS in 2009.
“We have cooperated with law enforcement on the investigation,” said USD 205 Bluestem Superintendent Randy Rivers, declining to comment further on the investigation.
Investigators notified USD 490 school district of the investigation and its initial findings. No information of any incidents has been reported since the teacher has been employed at USD 490.
USD 490 Superintendent Sue Givens said the district could not comment on personnel issues.
