Augusta High School students Alex Bayer, Sarah Stahmer, Dayton Baxter, Kailee Headley, Kaely Regier, and Kara Schnake will be representing the school at the Regional Scholars’ Bowl competition tomorrow in Silver Lake.
There’s no physicality factor in this high school activity sanctioned by the Kansas State High School Activities Association. It’s showcases knowledge and is a true “head to head” competition.
Diane Doudna, is the Scholars’ Bowl sponsor for Augusta.
At Silver Lake, Augusta will be in a 4A school group consisting of El Dorado, Rose Hill, Circle, Santa Fe Trail, Chapman, Clay Center, Concordia, Hesston, Smoky Valley, Silver Lake, Valley Center, Wamego, and Wichita Trinity Academy.
First, second, and third place teams from this field will move on to the State Scholars’ Bowl tournament Feb. 13.
Douglass High’s Scholars’ Bowl team will be competing in the 3A Regionals at Arma Northeast along with the Leon-Bluestem High squad. Other schools are Baxter Springs, Belle Plaine, Caney Valley, Cherokee-Southeast, Eureka, Fredonia, Frontenac, Galena, Neodesha, Riverton, Whitewater-Remington,

Teams from Andover High and Andover Central will be going head-to-head with other 5A schools at Salina Central. That field includes Great Bend, Hays, Hutchinson, Liberal, McPherson, Newton, Salina South, Wichita-Carroll, Wichita-West, Kapaun Mt.Carmel and Winfield.

The state tournament sites for area teams will be 5A at Newton. 4A at Topeka-Hayden, 3A at Cimmaron. 6A site a Wichita Northwest. 1A at Rosalia-Flinthills.
