Local museum presents Amelia Earhart exhibit

The Augusta Historical Museum, 303 State St., is now hosting a traveling exhibit, Amelia Earhart:  Taking Flight in Kansas.
Kansans everywhere should be aware of the accomplishments of Amelia Earhart, the pioneer aviator  who was born on July 24, 1897 in Atchison, Kan. 
This exhibit explores Earhart’s life in Kansas as a child and offers a glimpse at her passions for flying, women's issues, and aviation safety. News accounts detail her disappearance on July 2, 1937 and the ensuing search that continues today.
Amelia Earhart:  Taking Flight in Kansas was produced by the Kansas State Historical Society and is paret of the Kansas Interpretive Traveling Exhibits Service.  The exhibit will be open for viewing until Feb. 7.  Admission is free.
