We have some exciting trips planned for June and July.  First, we would like to invite you to join us on an overnight trip to the Downstream Casino in Quapaw, Okla. on June 24-25.  We will leave the senior center at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, June 24 and arrive at the casino at approximately noon.  Upon arrival, you will receive $20 in slot play and $20 in food credit.  We will depart the casino at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 25.  The trip cost $75 per person based on double occupancy, $110 single, and includes round trip transportation on a comfortable charter bus and one night stay at the Downstream Casino.

On Tuesday, June 30, we are taking a one day trip to the Tanganyika Wildlife Park in Goddard.  The bus will leave the Center at 8:15 a.m. and arrive at the park around 9 a.m.  After touring the park we will travel to Park City and enjoy lunch at The Cracker Barrel.  Trip cost is $25 per person and includes round trip transportation on a comfortable charter bus and admission into the park.  Lunch is on your own.

There will be a one day casino trip to the Tonkawa Casino in Tonkawa, Okla., with a stop at the First Council Casino in Newkirk, Okla. on Thursday, July 16.  Upon arrival at Tonkawa, you will receive a $10 slot play, free lunch and a welcome gift.  Upon arriving at the First Council Casino you will receive a $10 slot play.  Trip cost is $15 per person and includes round trip transportation on a charter bus.

June activities
The jam session for June will be at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9.  We will have ice cream sundaes.  Admission is free, but we do ask that you bring your favorite ice cream topping.

The monthly biscuit and sausage gravy breakfast will be held from 7 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 13.  A small donation will get you scrambled eggs, homemade biscuits, sausage gravy, orange juice and coffee.  The public is welcome!

We are very excited to host a lunch with the Butler County Commission at noon on Monday, June 15.  This is a great way to visit one-on-one with your county commissioners and let them know your concerns for the county and for the senior population.  It is also a great opportunity to thank them for their continued support to the area senior centers.  Without the mil levy support, the Augusta Senior Center could not operate as successfully as we do.  We will be serving salisbury steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, tropical fruit salad, a dinner roll, coffee or iced tea.  If you would like to join us, call the Center by Friday, June 12 to make your reservations.

The covered dish birthday luncheon will be at noon on Tuesday, June 16.

The monthly dance will be from 7 to 10 p.m. on Friday, June 19.  Doors open at 6 p.m. and admission is a $3 donation.  Please bring a finger food.  Door prizes will be given and live music will be by The Three Hits & A Miss.

The evening meal will be at 5 p.m. on Monday, June 22.  We will have our annual cook-out with hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans, dessert, coffee or iced tea.  Please make your reservation by Friday, June 19.

Center closing for remodeling
The Center will be closed from Tuesday, June 23 through Monday, June 29.  New tile is being installed in the west end of the building and in the rest rooms.  We are also doing some updating in the rest rooms.  We’re looking for volunteers to help move things on Tuesday, June 23 and Monday, June 29.  We will begin around 9 a.m. on Tuesday.  We have two heavy pool tables that will need moved, so we need several strong men.
