Augusta, Kan. -

The National Federation of Independent Business, Kansas’ leading small business association,  has endorsed candidates in 116 legislative races.
The endorsements were made by NFIB/Kansas SAFE (Save America’s Free Enterprise) Trust, which is comprised exclusively of NFIB members.
“Small business is the backbone of the Kansas economy, and it’s critically important to have a Legislature that supports free enterprise,” said Derrick Sontag, state director of NFIB/Kansas.
“The National Federation of Independent Business supports candidates who support small business, regardless of party affiliation. NFIB’s endorsed candidates clearly understand small business owners need better access to affordable healthcare and believe fiscal responsibility, a sensible workers’ compensation system and less regulation are important to our future.”
Two Republican legislative candidates in our area have received the NFIB/Kansas nod.
They are incumbent David Crum of Augusta, who seeks re-election to the Kansas House of Representatives from the 77th District.
Crum has no opposition for the Nov. 4 General Election.
The second Republican candidate is Ty Masterson of Andover who seeks election to the Kansas Senate from District 16.
Masterson will be opposed on the November ballot by Democrat Peter DeVries, also from Andover.
Masterson and DeVries are seeking the legislative seat left open by the retirement of State Senator Peggy Palmer, R-Augusta.
