State Representative Ty Masterson, (R-Andover) has filed as a candidate for the District 16 Senate District.
The Senate District position became available as the result of Senator Peggy Palmer’s decision not to seek re-election.
Masterson sees a need to focus on improving the quality of life and growing businesses and jobs in Butler and Greenwood counties.
“The 16th District has unlimited potential and resources. It’s full of entrepreneurs, industries, farmers, ranchers, and hard-working folks who just want to grow their businesses and their families and improve their quality of life.
“Peggy (Palmer) has such a tremendous work ethic and heart for the citizens in her district. I want to thank her for her tireless service and sacrifices as well as her many accomplishments,” Masterson said.
Rep. Masterson has 16 years of experience as an entrepreneur in service industries and four years of experience in public service including the House of Representatives and the Andover City Council.
He serves on the House Appropriations Committee, the Financial Institutions and Insurance Committee, and the Education Budget Committee. Masterson is a licensed realtor.
Masterson, a native of Butler County, was born in El Dorado and attended school in both the Circle and Augusta districts and later attended Kansas State University.
He currently serves as the State Representative from the 99th District that includes Andover and the surrounding area and part of eastern Sedgwick County.
