Three small parcels of land on the city’s west side are needed for the Whitewater River levee enhancement project and are ready for closing action by the Augusta City Council.
William and Sharon Slade own two of the tracts behind 1705 Sunset Drive. The third, behind 1704 Sunset Drive, is part of the Claude Keck Estate.
Augusta’s governing body will convene at 7 p.m. Monday in the upstairs councilroom of City Hall, Sixth & School. The meetings are televised live over cable Channel 7.
The Council could authorize staff to close on each parcel during Monday night’st consideration of these New Businesses items.
However, prior to that the Council will reconsider the annual operations/maintenance agreement with the state parks department for the City Lake and Santa Fe Lake. operations.
Also ready for Council action will be an ordinance for new sanitation rates.
Both items were discussed at the last Council meeting.
A bid to a new electric eparmtne tilt-bed trailer will be resonsidered.
In other business, the Council will:
• Consider an ordinance requiring a permit for commercial business to dump grass clippings, yard waste, and limbs at the city compost site.
• Review a staff proposal to purchase new billing software.
• Look at liability and property insurance coverage for 2010-2011.
• Review an amendment to the power purchase agreement between the City of Augusta and the Kansas Municipal Energy Association regarding power from the Grand River Dam Authority (GRDA).
