Augusta High School has been granted charter membership in the National Forensics League (NFL).
As a charter members AHS is now part of the nation’s largest speech and debate honor society which has more than 93,000 student members in all 50 states.
AHS Debate/Forensics Coach Tim Laner announced the news this week.
The NFL is a non-partisan, not-for-profit educational group established to encourage and motivate high school students to participate and become proficient in forensics arts, debate, public speaking and interpretation.
More than $15,000 in college scholarships are awarded at each annual NFL national tournament, enabling students to continue their education.
