Augusta Middle School students brought home an eighth place finish from the State Science Olympiad competitions last Saturday at Wichita State University.
The locals parlayed a series of finishes from first to tenth into an 8th Overall showing in the large schools division.
The AMS Bluejay boys and girls did well at a regional event earlier this semester at Andover Central Middle School.
AMS teacher-coach Ron Turner said the local team was invited to WSU when another team dropped out.
FIRSTS
Emily Mertz and Jenna Reynolds took first place in the Food Science Division.
Keegan Hallmark and Patrick Bruce took first place in the Metric Mastery Division.
SECOND
Brady Reynolds and Nick Steffes took second place in the Ecology Division.
FOURTHS
Reece Rogers and Branden Hallmark took fourth in place the Amphibians and Reptiles.
Patrick Bruce and Keegan Hallmark took fourth place in the Anatomy.
FIFTH
Nick Steffes and Sarah Stahmer took fifth place in the Scrambler Division.
SIXTHS
Kaely Regier and Reece Rogers took sixth place in the Crave the Wave.
Kaely Regier and Alex DeHaven took sixth place in the Oceanography Division.
SEVENTH
Brady Reynolds and Nick Steffes took seventh place in the Reach for the Stars Division.
Patrick Bruce and Jacob Lowery took sixth place in the Tower Building Division.
EIGHTH
Sarah Stahmer and Patrick Bruce took eighth in Road Scholar.
NINTH
Kara Schnake and Branden Hallmark took ninth place in the Bio-Process Lab.
Kaely Regier and Jacob Lowery took ninth place in the Mystery Architecture Division.
Reece Rogers and Jacob Lowery took ninth place in the Robo-Cross Division.

TENTHS
Jacob Mayne and Kara Schnake took tenth place in the Simple Machines Division.
Kara Schnake and Sara Stahmer took tenth place in the Science Crime Busters Division.
Also competing at the state event were:
Alex DeHaven and Kaely Regier in the Rocks and Minerals Division.
Jenny Reynolds and Emily Mertz in the Science Word Division.
Kara Schnake and Jacob Mayne in the Trajectory Division.
Jenny Reynolds and Emily Mertz  in the Write It Do It Division.
Nick Steffes and Brady Reynolds  in the Balloon Launch Glider Division.
Reece Rogers and Branden Hallmark in the Meteorology Division.
