TOPEKA—Andover Central’s girls basketball team completed its pursuit of perfection and winning a State championship by beating St. Thomas-Aquinas 44-36 Saturday night at the Expocentre in Topeka.

The Jaguars win the Class 5A State title and finish the season with a 25-0 record.

Senior Tiffany Bias led the Jaguars with 24 points and averaged 29.7 points per game in the three games of the tournament.

Senior Kaitlin Tennyson hit a key three-pointer in the third quarter and finished with eight points. Hannah Henry made a steal and a layup off an inbound pass with 52 seconds left to give the Jaguars a 42-31 lead to seal the win.

Central’s defense held Aquinas to 3-of-18 shooting in the second half, including no field goals for the first seven minutes of the fourth quarter.
