A classic movie, “Wizard of Oz,” will be showing on the big screen in the art deco downtown theatre, 523 State, at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow night.
That will kick off a two-day celebration of the historical show place’s 75th anniversary.
Friday admission will cost $5 per person.
The celebration will resume at 7 p.m. Saturday night with a stage show featuring a movie historian, piano music from popular cinematic films, and vocalists.
Movie buff Bill Shaffer pg KTWU Public Television from Washburn University at Topeka will be master of ceremonies Saturday evening.
A reading of the Theatre Creed by Bill Kurtis will start the show.
Saturday admission costs will be $12.50 per person and $11 for senior citizens.
The night will begin with a get-acquainted mixer followed by dessert.
Professional pianist Steve Rue will play the movie music.
