After a long absence, the dinner theater format is returning to Augusta with plenty of corn.
Its 2009 debut will be Friday night when the ACT I Players will present “Cornfield of Dreams” melodrama at the Cast Iron Skillet restaurant, 214 W. Seventh.
The melodrama will be presented this weekend (May 1-2) and next (May 8-9).
Doors will open at 6 p.m. and dinner will start at 6:15 p.m. on those Friday and Saturday nights.
Dinner and show tickets will sell for $15 per person and reservations are required. Call Larry Johnson at 775-7835 or Jim Moreland at 775-3214 or the restaurant at 558-3700 for reservation information.
The cast is made up of locals with Cast Iron Skillet proprietor Geri Purkeypile having a small part. She plays Dawn That during performances in the back of the restaurant where the Corn Cafe has been established.

Dylan Harris as General General, Janet Davis as Ben That, Don Hyman as Colonel Kernal, Tim Schild as Major Max Major.
Sierra Ricker as April May June, Jenna Buskirk as Jan Hewary, Jennie Thompson as Dee Sember, Pat Bailey as Miner Myra Minor.
Cathy Hyman is the piano player, Brad Sevens will be on drums, and Wayne Harrelson is the sound manager.
