The Details

The levee project is intended to protect the west side of Augusta from a flood such as the one the city endured on Halloween of 1998.

The Progress

After more than a decade of work, the project broke ground this summer. Currently, according to Corps of Engineer estimates, the project is about three percent ahead of schedule and more than $55,000 under budget.
