Evasive action prevents tragedy

An accident at the intersection of State and Kelly streets in Augusta Wednesday morning could have been a lot worse.

The driver veered off the road and into a pole on the northeast corner of the intersection. However, the driver was swerving to miss the student on a bicycle who had disobeyed a traffic device according to reports.

The wreck was cleared and traffic was back to normal quickly after the investigation into the accident was completed.
