It is not often a team can say the entire lineup received All-League honors. Augusta’s softball team can say it did.
Five Orioles were named First Team All-Ark Valley Chisholm Trail?League Div. III this week. Three Orioles earned Second Team All-League and one Oriole earned All-League honorable mention. The nine Orioles made up the starting lineup for the team.
For Christina Downs, Augusta’s senior leader, this is the third time she has earned First Team All-League honors; she earned honorable mention as a sophomore. Downs led the Orioles in batting average (.395), on-base percentage (.477), total hits (30) and runs (27). She was third in RBIs (17), drew a team-high 12 walks and hit .410 with runners in scoring position.
At shortstop, where she started every game this season, Downs had a .964 fielding percentage.
Taylor Williams earned First Team All-League honors at second base. She had earned First Team honors at third base her sophomore season and was Second Team at second last year.
Williams started the season with a bang by hitting a home run on opening day. She finished the season with team-highs of four homers, 27 RBIs and 44 total bases. She finished with a .324 batting average, 24 base hits and 21 runs scored.
Williams had a .924 fielding percentage.
Kalie Robinson, a junior, continues to impress with her third straight First Team All-League honor in the outfield. She was second on the team in batting average (.394), third in hits (26), second in RBIs (18) and had one home run. She had a .972 fielding percentage by committing only one error.
Senior Sidney Dey, who earned First Team All-League honors as a pitcher, was one of the most valuable players for Augusta. She finished with a 9-4 record and had a 2.88 ERA. She pitched nine complete games and had two shutouts. She gave up less hits (75) than innings pitched (78). She had 69 strikeouts to 20 walks. She gave up a team-low .243 batting average to opponents’ hitters.
Jacie Gorges earned her first All-League honor by getting selected First Team as an outfielder. Gorges, a junior, had a perfect fielding percentage in right field. At the plate, she had a .333 batting average with 12 RBIs and 15 runs.
Destiny Williams earned Second Team honors at first base. Williams, who transitioned to the position from catcher this season, hit .359 and was second on the team both with 40 total bases and 25 runs scored. She had seven steals and hit her first career home run. She had a .980 fielding percentage.
Kelsi Sears, a senior, was named Second Team catcher. Sears had two home runs and 10 RBIs. Behind the plate, Sears finished with a .976 fielding percentage.
Courtney Phillips, a junior, was named Second Team outfielder. She was third in team batting average (.362), scored 19 runs and had six RBIs. She also drew nine walks and had a team-high 10 steals. She finished with a .941 fielding percentage.
Katy Nordman earned honorable mention at third base for the Orioles. She batted .329 with 16 RBIs and was second on the team with a .378 average with runners in scoring position.
Rounding out the First Team are Rose Hill’s Tori Beltz (1B), Ashton Wheeler (P) and Bailey Santo (3B), Mulvane’s Destynee Donaldson (P), Baylee Creekmore (OF), Bailey Holt (C) and Rylee Lander (Utility). Beltz was named league MVP.
